Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has attached two residential properties belonging to notorious drug smugglers from Karnah Kupwara under Section 68A of the NDPS Act.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the residential house of one Zakir Hussain Shah S/o Ali Hyder Shah R/o Takiya Bahadarkote has been attached in connection with FIR No. 78/2020 registered at Police Station Karnah under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, 7/25 I.A. Act, and 13,16,18,39 of UAPA, adding therein that case pertains to the recovery of 5 Kgs of heroin, five pistols, and other arms/ammunition from his possession. Police in it statement further said “Investigations revealed use of illicit proceed of drug trafficking in the construction of the housed by the accused”.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action, the residential house of one Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan S/o Habibullah Khan R/o Chitterkote Karnah has been attached in connection with FIR No. 38/2022 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, 3/5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and 13, 23, 39 of UAPA, adding therein that case involves the recovery of 7 Kgs of heroin and two IEDs from his possession. Stating that the accused having acquired illegal property was established during the course of investigation as he is believed to have constructed his house using drug money, contributing to the narco-militancy network aimed at destabilizing the region.
Police in its statement further said “In compliance to the provisions of the NDPS Act it has been ordered that these properties shall not be transferred, sold, or dealt with in any manner without prior permission the competent authority”. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said this action underscores its commitment to dismantling narco-militant networks that fuel crime and militancy in the region, appealing therein people to report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or militancy to the police for a safer and drug-free society.
