2 drug peddlers arrested in Ang, contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Polie on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Mattan received a specific input through reliable sources about one Hilal Ahmad Wani S/o Farooq Ahmad Wani R/o Kralgund Brah Mattan having indulged in peddling of narcotic substances and hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house following which a case under relevant sections of NDPS was registered at Police Station Mattan besides initiating further investigations. Stating that on receipt of the input a police team along with Executive Magistrate concerned raided the specific location and during search recovered about 4 Kgs of Charas Powder from the said house, Police in its statement further said that the owner of the said house was arrested on the spot and further investigation in the instant case is underway.
Police in its statement furthermore said that in a similar action a police party from Police Lost Sangam during naka checking near Tulkhan crossing apprehended one Saber Ahmad Sheikh S/o Roni Sheikh R/o Delhi and during search, 14 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession following which a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bijbehara besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that it remains resolute in its mission to eliminate drug-related activities in the region and safeguard the community. Police in its statement also appealed people to remain vigilant and report drug peddling activities to the nearest police station, ensuring collective action against the menace of drug addiction and trafficking.
