Srinagar : Police in Shopian on Thursday organized awareness programmes on the New Criminal Laws across the district.
The officers from Shopian Police highlighted the role and importance of new criminal laws among the participants who came from different areas of the district. The events witnessed significant participation of prominent citizens, educationists and particularly students from various educational institutions of the district. They were given a basic awareness of the New Criminal Laws followed by interactive discussions to enhance the practical knowledge of the laws.
The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for the victims of crime and the society at large. Modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology has been included and the new laws also sets timelines for trials.
