Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla and Sopore besides recovering contraband & psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Chandoosa headed by SHO Police Station Chandoosa at a checkpoint established at Thanda Kasi Chandoosa, arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Shaban Maray S/o Late Gh Mohd R/o Dudbugh and during search recovered 56 grams of Charas from his possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar way, a Police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Limber Boniyar, intercepted two suspects identified as Mehraj Ahmad Najar S/o Late Fateh Najar R/o Limber and Shabir Ahmad Bakerwal S/o Wazir Mohd R/o Babagail Limber and during search recovered 88 grams of Charas from their possession.
Stating that a Police party of Police Post Babareshi at a checkpoint established at Babareshi Crossing, intercepted two suspects identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Magray and Dawood Ahmad Magray sons of Gh Rasool Magray, both residents of Dudbugh and during search recovered 85 grams of Charas from their possession, Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Sopore also, a Police team at Chinar Crossing Fruit Mandi, arrested a drug peddler identified as Majid Ashraf Khan S/o Mohammad Ashraf Khan R/o Pethseer Sopore and during search recovered 110 banned tablets (Alprazolam) were recovered from his possession.
Police in its statement further said all the accused were arrested and the cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society , reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
