Srinagar : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Pulwama Waheed Para on Saturday raised concerns over the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) allowing MeritTrac to conduct crucial recruitment exams, despite a probe by the CBI.
Parra highlighted that MeritTrac was implicated in fraudulent practices during the 2022 recruitment exams that were subsequently cancelled, questioning why, despite its controversial history, Junior Legal Assistant & Legal Assistant exams were conducted by the same firm and weren’t cancelled.
He said the results of those exams were declared recently.
Taking on the microblogging site X, Parra wrote “MeritTrac: blacklisted by @jkssbofficial and mentioned in a CBI FIR had conducted exams in 2022 which were canceled for fraud. Yet, the Junior Legal Assistant & Legal Assistant exams that were conducted by the same firm weren’t canceled & results were declared just a few days ago.”
Para mentioned, “Why weren’t these exams canceled? Was CBI consulted on this issue? Playing with the dreams of J&K’s youth when they’re already under tremendous pressure is unforgivable.”
Meanwhile, this issue has already ignited debates about accountability in recruitment processes and the pressure faced by J&K’s youth, who are already grappling with a surging employment landscape in the region.
A social media user, while reacting to Parra’s post on X, wrote, “This is concerning! Transparency and accountability are crucial, especially when it comes to the future of J&K’s youth.”
