Ganderbal : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shayambir on Thursday met with the newly elected members of the Ganderbal Press Association (GPA).
The meeting highlighted the association’s recent elections, conducted in a transparent and democratic manner, earning high praise from the Deputy Commissioner.
During the meeting, the DCwas briefed about the overall election process and the meticulous arrangements by GPA Spokesperson, Hadi Hidayat.
Shayambir expressed his appreciation for the well-organized conduct of the elections and congratulated the new leadership.
Pertinently, Ayaz Sofi associated with PTI & Times Now was elected the president of the Association while others who were elected to different posts included Vice President, Raja Syed Rathe (ANI & KNO); General Secretary, Sabik Ali Sabik (Kashmir Crown) and Treasurer, Basit Farooq (Kashmiriyat & Young bites)
In addition to the elected positions, GPA members nominated Mir Aftab as the Chief Patron and Hadi Hidayat as the Spokesperson.
The DC assured the GPA of his full support and emphasized the importance of a strong and independent press in promoting transparency, governance, and public awareness.
This meeting underscores the administration’s commitment to fostering strong ties with the media fraternity and supporting its role in building a well-informed and empowered society.
