Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Banamohallah at a checkpoint established at Babdamb road near Stadium intercepted a vehicle (Venue) bearing registration no UP16CN-8991 while on way from Barbarshah to Babdamb with two suspected on Board. Stating that the said suspects were identified as Ilyas Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Ramzan Dar R/o Dar Mohallah Old Barzulla, Sanat Nagar and Manzoor Ahmad Dar S/o Late Bashir Ahmad Dar R/o Tengpora Srinagar , Police in its statement further said during search of the vehicle, 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered. Following which both the accused were arrested and shifted to police station besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 50/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at the said police station besides initiating further investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
