Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Gund received inputs through reliable sources following which one Shameem Ahmad Khatana S/o Late Ab Gani Khatana R/o Baktoori Mohalla, Gund was found to have concealed contraband substance at his residential house. Stating that while acting swiftly, a special police team of Police Station Gund along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses raided the residential house of the accused, Police in its statement further said that during search, 8Kgs of bhang patri was recovered from the possession of the said accused, adding therein that a case under FIR No. 53/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Gund besides initiating further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed People to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
