Srinagar, Nov 29: Three industrial units were damaged in a devastating fire incident in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Friday.

Reports said that three industrial units including a factory owned by a migrant entrepreneur were gutted in a massive fire. The blaze caused extensive damage to the buildings, machinery and materials.

Muzaffar Ahmad, President Industrial Estate Bijbehara while providing details said the fire erupted at Chinar Agro Industries during the early hours of Friday and quickly spread to the adjacent factories.

The authorities however are currently investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage to the affected units.

The locals said that firefighters struggled to control the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby units.

The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) has expressed its deep sorrow over the losses.

FCIK President Shahid Kamili reached out to the Director of Industries & Commerce, Kashmir, and the Managing Director of SICOP/SIDCO to raise concerns about the growing number of fire incidents in industrial estates.

This fire marks the fourth such incident in recent months, following similar disasters in the Lassipora, Burzallah, and Sopore industrial estates.
