Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has three drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a police party of Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established in village Nipora Sadoora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no JK14-4483 with two suspects identified as MohdMaroofS/o Hassin Din R/o Reasi and Jaswant Raj S/o Tej Ram R/o Reasi on board and during search, 2.8 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 2 number plates and cash amount of ₹1,00,160/ were recovered from their possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Anantnag, a police team from Police Station Srigufwara, intercepted a suspect identified as Mohd Altaf BhatS/o Bashir Ahmad BhatR/o Gonda, Rajouri A/P Sirhamacarrying a nylon bag and during search, 5 Kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
