New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Tuesday disposes off the Public Interest Litigation seeking action against former Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah for his remarks on Pakistan administered Kashmir.
Media reports said that the court has asked petitioner to approach authorities and Minister for External Affairs and Minister for Home Affairs of Law and Justice.
Earlier a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and C Hari Shankar had agreed to hear the PIL.
The court said that it can’t decide on the matter and it is better for petitioner to approach Ministry of Home Affairs and other Ministries.
The PIL had filed by Delhi-based Maulana Ansar Raza who claimed to be a social activist, seeking “immediate investigation” and “arrest” of Farooq Abdullah alleging that he has favoured Pakistan and insulted India. He alleged that Abdullah has been making “such controversial remarks and statements by which India and its people feel ashamed of such persons being Indian citizens”.
The petition, filed through lawyer Nawal Kishore Jha, had said the NC chief should be tried for penal offences including sedition and treason under the IPC and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau be also asked to probe the entire issue.
Omar calls ATFI chief ‘idiot’ for offering bounty to cut Farooq’s tongue
Srinagar, Nov 21 (UNI) Calling Anti-Terrorist Front India (ATFI) chief Viresh Shandilya ‘an idiot’ for offering Rs 21 lakh to anyone who cuts off National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah’s tongue for his alleged pro-Pak remarks, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said the ‘guy doesn’t have two nickels to rub together’.
“Guy doesn’t have two nickels to rub together & he’s offering 21 Lakhs. Idiot!,” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of NC , wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
ATFI chief on Tuesday Viresh Shandilya on Tuesday said, “Dr Farooq is a traitor for India and the Centre should withdraw hi Z+ security cover. I will award Rs 21 lakh to the person who cut off Abdullah’s tongue.”
Dr Farooq had on November 11 said that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) belonged to Pakistan and “this would not change” no matter how many wars India and Pakistan fought.
