Amit Shah to Unveil Major Cybercrime Prevention Initiatives on I4C Foundation Day

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce several key initiatives to combat cybercrime during the first foundation day celebration of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) in the national capital on Tuesday.
Among the initiatives, Shah will inaugurate the Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC), which will serve as a hub for cooperation between banks, financial intermediaries, payment aggregators, telecom providers, IT firms, and law enforcement agencies across states and Union Territories. This collaborative platform aims to enable swift action against online financial crimes.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) highlighted that the CFMC represents a prime example of “cooperative federalism” in law enforcement.
Additionally, Shah will launch the ‘Samanvaya Platform,’ a centralized web-based system designed to enhance cybercrime investigations through data sharing, crime mapping, and improved coordination among law enforcement agencies nationwide.
The Home Minister will also unveil the ‘Cyber Commandos’ initiative, establishing specialized teams in states, Union Territories, and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) to combat emerging cyber threats. These trained Cyber Commandos will assist in safeguarding the country’s digital infrastructure.
Another significant initiative is the launch of a suspect registry, a national database of cybercrime suspects created in collaboration with banks and financial intermediaries. This registry aims to bolster the financial sector’s capabilities in managing fraud risks.
These initiatives, as emphasized by the MHA, are key steps towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Cyber Secure Bharat.’
The I4C, founded on October 5, 2018, under the MHA’s Cyber and Information Security Division, coordinates national efforts to tackle cybercrime. Its headquarters in New Delhi were inaugurated in January 2020, and as of July 1, 2024, the I4C has been designated as an attached office under the MHA.
The event will also see the participation of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, senior government officials, Chief Secretaries, DGPs, police officers, and representatives from the financial and technology sectors
