Srinagar: Police have arrested two people and seized 78 bottles of illicit liquor in two separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.
Police said in the first instance, a police team from Police Post Sangam intercepted a motorcyclist at Panjpora Astanpora and recovered 13 bottles of illicit liquor from the possession of the rider, Mohammad Abbas Khan a resident of Dadoo Marhama.
Similarly, a police team from Anantnag Police station apprehended notorious liquor seller Mubarak Ahmad Wagay alias Muhammad Rajab Wagay from Khanabal Chowk and seized 65 bottles of illicit liquor along with a vehicle.
Cases have been registered against both the accused under relevant sections of the law and investigations are underway, they added.
