Srinagar: Below is the timeline of weeklong public event held within and outside J&K this week:-
1. The massive search operation continued for over days against holed-up militants who fired on a school building and injured two security personnel in Kastigarh area of Doda district of Jammu region.
2. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Kashmir College of Engineering and Technology, at Ranbirgarh, Srinagar. He congratulated the Chairman, Kashmir College of Engineering & Technology Raja Aijaz Ali, and the entire team for their endeavour to strengthen the technological excellence in academia, innovation and nurturing a future-ready skilled workforce.
3. The UIDAI has advised all the residents who have got their Adhaar 10 years before to revalidate their address. In this connection, all the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to make the residents of J&K aware about the updation of addresses with the help of any supporting documents.
4. The inhabitants of Chainbal Pattan staged a protest against Jal Shakti Department for failing to provide potable water. They blocked Srinagar-Baramulla highway and halted vehicular traffic for several hours.
5. Prime Minister NarendraModi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security amid a spate of militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present in the meeting.
6. Two unidentified militants were killed in joint operation of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army on Thursday after security forces foiled another infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran Sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
7. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, that the sacrifices and bravery of our soldiers in the Kargil War must continue to inspire future generations and it is more important to learn the right lessons from this war.
8. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Vijay Kumar said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is an impartial and apolitical force. He said that, as in previous years, the J&K Police have set up stalls at various locations for the convenience of mourners.
9. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, NityanandRai, chaired a high-level strategic security review meeting at the Frontier HQ of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Kashmir. The meeting, attended by senior BSF officers, focused on assessing current challenges and formulating future strategies to enhance security in the region.
10. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Sunday announced the results of the annual regular examinations 2024 for class 11th grade in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh union territories. Out of the 123,026 candidates who appeared for the exams, 88,396 students successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 72 percent.
