2 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore & Kulgam police districts and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Warpora headed by Incharge Police Post Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Dangerpora-Saidpora Byepass near Poultry Farm, apprehended a suspect identified as Feroz Ahmad Kaboo S/o Khazir Mohammad Kaboo R/o Kralteng Sopore and during search recovered 86 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in Kulgam also, a Police party of Police Post Neehama at a checkpoint established at Samnoo, noticed the movement of two suspects, Police in its statement further said that one of the suspects identified one as Mushtaq Ahmad Naik S/o Ghulam Nabi Naik R/o Rambhama was apprehended while carrying nylon bags who on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot. Police in its statement further said that another suspectsleft his nylon bag and while taking advantage of dense orchards managed to flee from the spot. Stating that during questioning, the apprehended accused disclosed the name of escaped person as Anil Khurshid S/o Khurshid Ahmad Bhat R/o Rambhama and during search, 10.6 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said nylon bags, Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at the respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
