Srinagar: Below is the timeline of weeklong major public even held within and outside Jammu & Kashmir:-

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of 4,603 Amarnath yatris from the Yatri Niwas base camp in Bhagwati Nagar here on June 28.
The first batch departed for the sacred Amarnath Cave at approximately 5:30 am from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar. The yatris set off in a convoy of 231 vehicles, with 116 vehicles headed towards the traditional Pahalgam route and 115 towards the Baltal route.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the transformative impact of the previous year’s G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar. The successful and peaceful G-20 meeting has revitalized Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism industry, which had been struggling for years.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a high-level meeting with key stakeholders to assess Jammu and Kashmir’s readiness for implementing the new criminal laws set to take effect in the Union Territory from July this year. The meeting saw the participation of DG Police, Principal Secretary Home, DG Prisons, DG Prosecution, SDG Crime, ADGP Headquarters, Secretary Health, Secretary Law, Director FSL, and other relevant officers, with outstation officers joining virtually.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested Senior Advocate and former President of the High Court Bar Association, Mian Qayoom, in connection with the Advocate Babar Qadri murder case. Babar Qadri was killed by unknown gunmen in September 2020.
Around 38 Mountain Rescue Teams (MRT) comprising personnel from SDRF J&K, J&K Armed Police, NDRF, BSF, and CRPF will be deployed for the upcoming AmarnathYatra2024, set to commence from June 29.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Jammu has arrested Yatin Yadav, son of Deshraj Yadav, identified as the mastermind behind the JKSSB Sub-Inspector Exam paper leak conducted on March 27,2022. The arrest follows an investigation initiated by the ED based on an FIR and chargesheet filed by the CBI against Yadav and other accused persons.
Mubarak Hussain Syed, a Kashmiri Assistant Professor, Department of Biology, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM has received the “2024 McKnight Scholar Award. Syed, a resident of Wahabpora Budgam is one of 10 neuroscientists selected by “The McKnight Endowment Fund” for Neuroscience board of directors to receive the award.
A Pakistani delegation arrived in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the 1960 Indus Water Treaty (IWT). The delegation is set to visit different dam sites in the forthcoming days. The Indus Waters Treaty was signed between then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and former Pakistan President Ayub Khan in 1960.
LG Manoj Sinha said that for the past 5 years, there has been a vibrant transformation in every sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Common people here struggled to live peacefully due to unfavourable conditions, especially impacting the trade sector. He said the era of hopelessness has now ended, and new opportunities have emerged for the youth.
