Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Old Town Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Bagh-e-Islam, intercepted a suspect Mohammad Qasim Bala S/o Gh Mohammad R/o Bagh-e-Islam Old Town Baramulla and during search recovered 10 grams of contraband Heroin-like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund at a checkpont established at NHW near Alstop intercepted a vehicle (load carrier) bearing registration number JK03J-5429 driven by Aadil Rashid S/o Abdul Rashid Makroo R/o Rahpora, Khudwani , Police in its statement further said that during search, 7.4 Kgs of poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, adding therein that the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective Police Stations besides initiating further investigations, Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
