DC B’pora visits Sumbal sub-division, inspects developmental works under Horticulture Sector

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel Ur Rehmanon Wednesday conducted a comprehensive tour of Sumbal sub-division to review the functioning of various horticulture units.
The DC inspected different cultivation setups, such as high-tech nurseries, mother blocks and other initiatives.
He assessed the production process of high-quality fruit plants for various fruit crops and their subsequent distribution to the farming community, along with revenue generation.
Chief Horticulture Officer BandiporaFarooq Ahmad informed the DC about the initiatives taken under different schemes within the district.
During the visit, the DC inaugurated 04 High Density Mother Block Apple orchard established under HADP 2023-24 at Shahtulpora, Sumbal.
CHO informed that these 04 units of High Density Mother Block Apple orchard have been established on 20 Kanals of land.
The DC was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) Bandipora, Farooq Ahmad; Horticulture Development Officer Sumbal and other concerned field officers.
Later, the DC conducted an on-site inspection of the Model Orchard cum Nursery at Asham established by the Horticulture Department on 100 kanals of land.
The DC was informed that among 97 kanals of land in Model Orchard cum Nursery 77 kanals are for the mother block of apple and 20 kannals are for nursery.
Shakeel Ur Rehman appreciated the horticulture department Bandipora for taking solid and substantial steps for implementation of HADP in the district.
On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned from the horticulture department to ensure swift and effective implementation of agricultural projects for comprehensive development and to ensure the successful execution of HADP for maximum benefit to farmers.
