DC B’pora embarks on 2-day extensive field tour to Gurez

DC Inspects polling stations, assesses arrangements at Election Strong Room, pays visit to KVK Gurez, interacts with public

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, on Thursday embarked on a two-day extensive tour to Gurez and inspected various polling stations to assess assured minimum facilities (AMF) and other necessary preparations to facilitate smooth and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha Polls-2024.
The DC, accompanied by a team of officers, visited polling stations of Izmarg, Kanzalwan, Nyle, Dawar, and other adjacent areas, besides inspected arrangements at the Election Strong room established at Dawar.
During his visit to polling stations, the DC emphasized concerned officers to ensure implementation of ECI guidelines, guarantee voter accessibility, and maintain the integrity of the democratic process besides stressed on completing all necessary measures well in time.
He laid emphasis on availability and functionality of essential amenities such as electricity, drinking water, sanitation facilities, and accessibility ramps besides others.
At Government Middle School Izmarg, which is also a polling station, the DC interacted with students and took feedback regarding academic activities besides assessing availability of basic facilities in the school.
He also paid a visit to KVK Bagtore and took stock of various programs and training activities carried out in KVK Bagtore.
On the way to various areas of Gurez, including Bagtore, Kanzalwan, Nyle, Dawar, and other areas, the DC interacted with the public, listened to their concerns and took feedback on issues of public welfare.
The locals put forward various issues including improvement of road infrastructure, upgradation of basic facilities in educational institutions, availability of teachers and subject specific lectures, upgradation of transport facilities, health infrastructure, mobile connectivity besides other issues of public importance.
After patiently listening to the issues and concerns of the general public, the DC passed on the spot directions for redressal of various issues. He also assured redressal of other genuine issues on priority.
Later, the DC chaired a meeting of officers at Dak Bungalow Dawar Gurez to review the functioning of different departments.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the functioning of health, education, animal husbandry, social welfare, and other departments.
He emphasized officers to work diligently in order to enhance service delivery, streamline processes, and optimize resource utilization.
Shakeel ul Rehman said that from having beautiful landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse potential for outdoor activities, Gurez offers a unique opportunity for tourists seeking off-beat experiences.
He urged the stakeholders to further develop the tourism infrastructure to attract more tourists, thereby creating opportunities for economic growth and job creation for youth.
The DC said that the administration is committed to harnessing the tourism potential of Gurez involving local youth.
He also led a plantation drive by planting saplings within the premises of Dak Bungalow Dawar.
During the visit to Gurez, the DC was accompanied by SDM Gurez Mukhtar Ahmad, ACD Mumtaz Ahmad Pir, CEO Dr. G. M Pujoo, CMO Dr. Rafi Ahmed, DySP Ahmad Shaafi, and other concerned officers.
