5 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in Pulwama and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that a police party of Police Station Pulwama during patrolling at Chatapora near industrial Estate, intercepted a Motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BT 3985 ridden by three suspects identified as Abrar Ahmad Yatoo S/o Gh Nabi Yatoo R/o Rajpora , Hilal Ahmad Laway S/o Gh Mohammad Laway R/o Monchward Keller and Zeeshan Farooq S/o Farooq Ahmad Chat R/o Chatapora Pulwama , adding therein that during search, 370 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that during investigation, one more accused namely Ab Rashid Mir S/o Ali Mohammad Mir R/o Batapora Naina was arrested and on his disclosure, 650 grams of charas like substance and 1.6 Kg contraband substance apparently charas powder were recovered, Police in its statement further said that all the accused persons were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in its statement furthermore that a police party from Police Station Litter at a checkpoint established at Litter intercepted a suspect identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani S/o Gh Hassan Wani R/o Litter and during search recovered 3 Kgs charas powder like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective Police Stations besides initiating further investigations , Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 after witnessing any untoward event and urged them to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
