Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has seized six vehicles involved in illegal mining of minerals in Baramulla besides, arresting 5 drivers on spot.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla and SDPO Pattan assisted by SHO Police Station Baramulla and Incharge Police Post Palhallan seized 6 vehicles (3 tippers, 3 tractors) and arrested 5 drivers identified as Tariq Ahmad Wani S/o Sanaullah & Shabir Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Nabi both residents of Shilwat Sumbal, Parvaiz Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Mohiuddin R/o Hurchak, Mashooq Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Mohd R/o Nillah Pattan & Mushtaq Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Khaliq R/o Tapper Payeen involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khanpora and Dargam Baramulla. Police in it’s statement also said that the driver of one tipper managed to fled away from the spot and efforts are on to nab him.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Baramulla and Police Station Pattan besides initiating further investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement asked people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Police also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
