Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances besides cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established on Bernate Link Road Boniyar, intercepted two suspects identified as Mohd Rafiq Sheikh S/o Mohd Subhan and Bashir Ahmad Ganie S/o GhRasool, both residents of Bernate Boniyar, who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully and later during their search, police recovered 48 grams of Charas besides cash amount of ₹4600 from their possession. Police in it’s statement also said that the accused have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Boniyar where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Boniyar besides initiating further investigation into the case, the
Police in its statement said that it has registered 39 cases under NDPS act, arrested 62 drug peddlers including 7 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS and attached properties belonging to drug peddlers worth 1.1 crores in Baramulla district during the current year.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
