Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Dalwach crossing intercepted a suspect while carrying a bag who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party, but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search 2 Kgs of Charas like contraband substance concealed in bag were recovered from the possession possession of the said accused identified as Imran Ahmad Parra resident of Hutmurrah Mattan, Anantnag who was formally arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR number 53/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides which investigation into the case was also initiated, the Police in it’s statement appeal people to report drug peddling or any other crime in their areas and contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
