Drug peddler arrested in Srinagar, contraband substance worth Crores seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar district and also seized contraband substance worth crores of rupees in MR Gunj area, adding therein that the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
In a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 27th February a police party of Police Station M R Gunj established a surprise checkpoint at Zaldager Chowk and during vehicle checking, one suspicious vehicle bearing registration No. JK03E-0662 driven by Shafeeq Ahmad Khawaja S/o Feteh Joo Khawaja R/o Dildar Karnah was intercepted at the checkpoint and while checking of the vehicle one packet of contraband substance (apparently Brown Sugar worth crores in black market) was recovered from the vehicle.
Stating that the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 10/2024 under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station MR Gunj besides initiating investigation into the case. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
