Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam district and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at Furrah near Railway Bridge, intercepted one Rizwan Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Ayoub Bhat R/o Furrah while carrying a nylon bag and during search 40 grams of Charas & 2.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw substances were recovered from his possession.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 50/2024 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund besides which investigation was also initated into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperatedwith it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
