Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam, contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop intercepted a vehicle (Wagnor Car) bearing registration number JK02AD-3680 driven by one Ganesh Kumar S/o Prem Nath R/o Amroo Ramnagar, Udhampur who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized and later during search, 5Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the said vehicle.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 47/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides which investigation into the case was also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated therein it’s commitment to take stern actions against the criminals as per law.
