Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Hadigam intercepted a suspect Umer Amin Padder S/o Mohd Amin Padder R/o Okey Kulgam while roaming in suspicious condition and during search recovered 104 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the said accused who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police party led by I/C PP Mirbazar during patrolling spotted a suspect identified as Sohail Ali Bhat S/o Ali Mohd Bhat R/o Malapora, Anantnag who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during search, 54 grams of Heroin like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations besides which investigation into the cases has been also initiate, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated therein that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
