J&K Students Association Welcomes Appointment of Prof. Naseer Iqbal as KU Registrar

Srinagar : The J&K Students Association here Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Dr. Naseer Iqbal as the new registrar of the University of Kashmir. In a statement issued, National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, congratulated Professor Iqbal on his new role and responsibility. The entire association looks forward to working closely with him to improve the education system at Kashmir University.
He expressed hopes that the new registrar would deliver to the best of his capabilities and experience, taking the university to new heights and glory. Among the fundamental issues needing immediate attention, Khuehami highlighted nepotism and favouritism as the top concerns.
Khuehami said that students at the varsity are often frustrated by delayed exams and results, emphasizing the need for prompt change. The university should adhere to UGC guidelines for the admission process rigorously, rather than being influenced by individual professors’ preferences.
The National General Secretary of the Association, Ummar Jamal, also congratulated Dr Naseer Iqbal for being appointed as the new Registrar of the University of Kashmir He hoped he would create a student-friendly atmosphere at the university to prevent student suffering. He urged that issues such as delayed degrees, nepotism, high fees, or anti-student policies be addressed fairly.
“His exceptional qualities as an educator and administrator make him the perfect fit for this role. I have no doubt that under his leadership, the university will flourish and reach new heights, Ummar Jamal added.
Meanwhile, the J&K Students Association thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, for appointing Prof. Iqbal, a distinguished academician with over 20 years of teaching experience, as the Registrar of the University. “He is an able administrator who has proven his worth in various assignments, from the headship of physics to Chief Proctor at KU and directorship of the North Campus. Subsequently, the registrar at IUST. He is widely acknowledged as an academician and a down-to-earth personality who has inspired thousands of students.”
