G’bal: The District Administration Ganderbal in collaboration with District Social Welfare Department and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Mission Shakti Ganderbal Thursday celebrated National Girl Child Day under the aegis of BetiBachaoBetiPadhao (BBBP) at Conference Hall of Boys Higher Secondary School Ganderbal.
The programme witnessed participation of a large number of women and students from local schools.
On the occasion, innumerable activities including motivational lectures on the theme ‘BetiBachaoBetiPadhao,’ skit performance by girl students, and a musical presentation were featured.
Under the programme, the department pledges to continue its efforts to promote gender equality, empowering female students, and breaking down societal barriers that may hinder their progress.
Deputy Commissioner, Shyambir, the chief guest of the programme, focused on the importance of celebrating the events which highlight the role of women in society and also set in the discussion among the common masses.
He praised the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Mission Shakti Ganderbal for carrying out such programmes at grassroots level and instilling values in students that contribute to positive societal change. He emphasized the importance of girls education for socio-economic uplift and gender equality.
The DC also felicitated several meritorious girls who excelled in education and sports. A pledge/Signature ceremony to save the girl child and educate her was also held on the occasion.
The programme was attended by Program Officer ICDS Ganderbal, Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal, officials of DHEW besides various students.

National Girl Child Day 2024 celebrated at Shopian
Shopian: The District Administration, Shopian Thursday marked the celebration of National Girl Child Day 2024 with a series of vibrant initiatives.
A grand event was held at the office of Heemal Complex Old DC office Shopian, organised by Mission Shakti, DHEW Shopian.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone graced the occasion as the chief guest.
DSWO Shopian, Ibrar Mirza and TSWO Shopian, Farhana Tak besides a large gathering of girl/women folk also attended the event.
Speaking at the event, the ADDC emphasized the crucial role girls play in building a progressive and equitable society.
He lauded the tireless efforts of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” (BBBP) initiative in nurturing the aspirations of girls and ensuring their holistic development.
Awareness speeches were delivered by girl students from various educational institutions, who also spoke passionately about their dreams, challenges, and aspirations.
On the occasion, 10 sewing machines were distributed among the beneficiaries. A signature campaign was also part of the diverse activities organised during the day.
Later, a panel discussion was also held featuring eminent women achievers who shared their personal journeys, success stories and offered valuable insights for young girls.
Among others, members from DHEW and OSC were also present on the occasion.
