Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has seized eight vehicles and arrested equal no of drivers for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police parties of Police Post Delina and Police Post Palhalan, seized 8 vehicles (03 Tippers & 05 tractors) and arrested 8 drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Chakloo, Delina Ghat and Palpora Palhallan Baramulla, adding therein that the said accused have been identified as Mohammad Nadeem Dar S/O Mohd Ashraf R/O Kokathal Kreeri, Basit Ahmad Ganie S/O Bashir Ahmad R/O Garkote Uri, Mashooq Ahmad Dar S/O Bashir Ahmad R/O Kungamdara Pattan, Khursheed Ahmad Dar S/O Gh Nabi, Towfeeq Ahmad Malik S/O Ab Ahad, Mushtaq Ahmad Malik S/O Gh Hassan, all residents of Delina Ghat Baramulla, Bilal Ahmad Rather S/O Ali Mohammad R/O New Colony Palhallan & Jehangir Ahmad Bhat S/O Nazir Ahmad R/O Palhallan Baramulla.
Stating thatcases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per lawand appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
