Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Baramulla districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Ganderbal Police on receiving inputs about the presence of contraband substance in residential house of one Javaid Ahmad Laharwal S/O late Ab Gaffar Laharwal R/O Kondabal deputed a police party led by SHO Police Station Safapora to the area where the accused were present and the team under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the said residential house during which heron like substance was recovered from the said house. Police in it’s statement further said that the recovered contraband substance was seized in presence of Executive Magistrate First Class after which the said accused was arrested on the spot.
Stating that in a smilar action In Baramulla distrct a police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Ahtishampora Boniyar intercepted one suspect and during search, 46 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Imran Ahmad Sheikh S/O Gh Mohd Sheikh R/O Bujhthalan Boniyar, Police in it’s statement said that the above named accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station0 Boniyar where he remains in custody, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Stations besides which further investigation have been taken up.
Appealing people to report drug peddling or any other crime of their area and contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 the Police in the concluding para of it’s statement sought cooperation of people fro curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
