Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has seized 5 vehicles and also arrested 5 persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla and assisted by SHO Police Station Baramulla and InChare Police Post Delina seized five vehicles (4 tippers, 1 tractor) and arrested five drivers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khanpora and Delina, adding therein that accused drivers were identified as Mohd Salam Ganie S/O Mohd Ashraf R/O Lalad Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Gojree S/O Gh Mohd R/O Drangbal, Umar Yousuf Sheikh S/O Mohd Yousuf R/O Khanpora, Imran Bashir Malik S/ OBashir Ahmad R/O Drangbal and Javid Ahmad Sofi S/O Gh Ahmad R/O Delina Ghat.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation have been also initiated, Police in it’s statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any nallah as it is the violation of Government rules, warning therein that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
