2 drug peddlers arrested in Bla & Kulgam, Psychotropic/Contraband substances also recovered : Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam districts and also recovered psychotropic/contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Sheeri headed by SHO Police Station Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Gantamulla Colony, intercepted a person identified as Gowhar Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohd Bhat R/O Pehliharan, adding therein that during search recovered 72 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Sheeri where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that in Kulgam district also a Police party of Police Station D H Pora at a checkpoint established at Margibal Gojjarpora, intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Sayar Ahmad Mir S/O Abdul Salam Mir R/O Waripora and during search recovered 2.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in a nylon bag from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and the motorcycle bearing registration No. JK03D-8782 used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides which investigations was also initiated, Police appealed people to cooperate with it about the drug and peddling and other crimes in their areas at nearest police establishment or dial 112 and cooperate in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
