Srinagar: President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President, Omar Abdullah, on Wednesday called upon the Gujjar and Bakarwal community to join forces with the National Conference (NC) to safeguard their land, job, and economic rights. The leaders made these remarks during a day-long Gujjar and Bakarwal Conference organized by senior party leader Choudhary Muhammad Aslam at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu on Wednesday.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah emphasized the significance of unity and learning from past mistakes. He stressed that the challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir can only be overcome if every section of society collaborates with the NC to protect the unique identity of the region. Dr. Farooq highlighted the party’s advocacy for the exclusive rights of tribals on natural resources and acknowledged the positive impact of NC’s policies on the lives of tribals while acknowledging the need for further efforts.
Omar Abdullah reiterated the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the peaceful and democratic battle fought by the NC on multiple fronts requires the support of the Gujjar and Bakarwal community. Omar clarified that the party’s fight is not limited to a particular community, religion, or region but encompasses every individual in J&K, aiming to protect the region’s existence, democratic rights, identity, and dignity. He urged caution in selecting representatives, emphasizing that every vote cast will shape the future of individuals and future generations.
