Srinagar: Below is timeline of the weeklong engagements of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha with public events within and outside Jammu & Kashmir:-
On Jan 08, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Officers’ Quarters of Estates Department at Jammu. The accommodation units include 5 number of 3 BHK (G+2) constructed at a cost of Rs 6.16 crore.
On Jan 09, LG Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations for 4th Khelo India Winter Games scheduled to begin on 2nd February at Gulmarg. The Lt Governor was briefed by Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, on the progress of preparatory works assigned to the concerned departments. He directed the departments concerned to complete all works expeditiously through time-bound action plans and ensure all the facilities meet the international standards.
On Jan 09, LG Sinha and the officers of Raj Bhawan bid farewell to Shri Minga Sherpa, who served as Additional Secretary at the Lt Governor’s Secretariat. He complimented Minga Sherpa for his professional conduct and sincere dedication towards work. LG also felicitated Minga Sherpa and wished him good health and all the success in future.
On Jan 10, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in Block Diwas, a public outreach programme of J&K UT Administration, at Bhalwal. Congratulating people for overwhelming response on Block Diwas, the Lt Governor said the Jan-Bhagidari campaign to strengthen participatory governance is empowering citizens, generating awareness about responsibilities and ensuring accountability of officers in administration. He called upon every section of the society to take initiative with dedication and determination to make their panchayat clean, liveable, achieve 100% literacy rate, maintain green spaces and 100% saturation of all government schemes.
On Jan 10, LG Manoj Sinha attended Abhinandan Samaroh organised by All Minority Employees Association of Kashmir at Abhinav Theatre. He reiterated the commitment of the J&K Administration towards the well-being of minority employees and to immediately address all their concerns through the established institutional mechanism. On the occasion, the Lt Governor said the administration is sensitive to the needs and aspirations of every section of the society. Our aim is to fulfill the dreams of the common man, provide new heights of success to people’s aspirations and every person needs to be empowered to contribute in developed India, he said.
On Jan 11, LG Manoj Sinha flagged off the exposure visit of the batch of 98 Students of Secondary and Senior Secondary from Government schools of J&K UT to IIT Kanpur. He interacted with the students and extended his good wishes for the 5-day visit which will include a 3-day stay at IIT Kanpur and also the visit to Regional Science City Lucknow.
On Jan 12, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the special session on ‘Investment opportunities in J&K’ at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. He highlighted the thriving investment landscape of J&K and unique economic opportunities the UT has to offer in various sectors. LG invited industrialists from India and abroad to invest in Jammu Kashmir. “Investing in Jammu Kashmir means investing in the unity and integrity of Bharat. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J&K has developed a strong investor-friendly environment, economic stability, highly skilled manpower and tremendous opportunities in tourism, hospitality, agriculture, horticulture, handicraft & handloom, IT and manufacturing. He said the unprecedented transformation in Jammu Kashmir in the last few years has created a conducive, secure and dynamic environment for long-term future for investments. “Investing in J&K offers a unique opportunity to tap into J&K ‘s potential brimming with raw material, better incentives, high productivity for the niche market, high potential of value addition, robust infrastructure and high level of innovation, research and development,” he said. J&K is a great place to do business because our economy is strong, continues to grow and it is diverse. With more than 55% green space, it offers a great place to live and work. Urban transformation has also ensured quality living in the cities, the Lt Governor said.
