7 drug peddlers arrested in North Kashmir, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested seven drug peddlers in North Kashmir and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Tarzoo at a checkpoint established at Pethseer Crossing, intercepted a person identified as Adil Ashraf Khan S/o Muhammad Ashraf Khan R/o Pethseer Sopore and during search recovered 248 Spasmo Proxyvon Plus capsules from the possession of the said accused wo was arrested and shifted to Police Station Tarzoo where he remained in custody, adding therein that cases under NDPS had been registered against the said drug peddler in year 2020, 2021 & 2022.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action in Handwara, a Police party at a checkpoint established at Chotipora Handwara, intercepted a vehicle (TATA Magic) bearing registration number JK05B-1055 with two persons on board identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Majeed Dar and Danish Ah Bhat S/o Abdul Rashid, both residents of Batkot Handwara and during their search recovered 126 grams of Charashas from the possession of the said who were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also been seized.
Police in its statement further said that in Baramulla also, a police party of Police Post Delina headed by IC PP Delina at a checkpoint established at Juhama-Kanispora, intercepted a non-local identified as Arhan Khan S/o Iftikhar Khan R/o Gaukhana Kadim Uttar Pradesh at present Kanthbagh Baramulla and during search recovered 14 grams of Brown Sugar from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating further that a police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by IC PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Jheel Bund Pattan, intercepted a vehicle (Scorpio) bearing registration DL10CT-1577 with three persons on board identified as Zubair Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh R/o Lawaypora Srinagar, Imran HussainMalla S/o Gh Mohammad Malla R/o Yakhmanpora and Mohd Amin Waza S/o Manzoor Ahmad Waza R/o Shahtulpora Sumbal and during search recovered 28 grams of Brown Sugar from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to Police Station Pattan were they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations after which further investigations into the case was also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
