DEO B’pora Chairs meeting on final roll publication of electoral roll

Bandipora: In a step towards upcoming elections, the Deputy Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmad who is also District Election Officer (DEO) of Bandipora, Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the final publication of the electoral roll.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders involved in the electoral process, including ADDC Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi, ACR Bandipora, SDM Gurez, SDM Sumbal Sumbal, Deputy DEO Bandipora besides EROs/AEROs and all Tehsildars (through virtual mode).
While sharing details regarding the process, the Deputy Election Officer informed the meeting that Final Roll Publication is scheduled to be published on January 05. He said that all the necessary formalities have already been completed and publication will be held on time.
The District Electric Officer (DEO) stressed on the importance of a fair and accurate electoral roll. He emphasized the need for transparency and meticulous verification in the finalization process to ensure all eligible voters are included and ineligible entries are removed.
The DEO directed officials to carefully examine all claims and objections submitted by citizens regarding their inclusion or exclusion in the electoral roll. He stressed the importance of resolving discrepancies quickly and transparently.
The DEO instructed officials to double-check all data entries to ensure absolute accuracy. He emphasized the use of technology and data analysis tools to identify and rectify any inconsistencies.
The DEO underlined the need for robust awareness campaigns to inform citizens about the final roll publication process and encourage them to verify their details. He called for collaboration with media and civil society organizations to disseminate information effectively.
Dr Owais emphasized the importance of establishing a smooth grievance redressal mechanism for citizens facing any issues with the final roll. He directed the concerned to ensure prompt action on all raised concerns.
The meeting concluded with the DEO setting a clear timeline for the final publication of the electoral roll. He directed officials to work diligently and efficiently to ensure the successful completion of the process, paving the way for free and fair elections in the district.
