Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific information about gambling activities at Muslim Peer Sopore, a police party of Police Station Sopore raided the specific site and arrested three gamblers identified as Rameez Reyaz Dar S/o Reyaz Ahmad Dar R/o Kralteng Sopore, Mohd Ashraf Dar S/o Ghulam Mohi-u-din R/o Muslim Peer Sopore and Mohd Ayoub Dar S/o Mohammad Sultan R/o Muslim Peer Sopore on the spot. Besides, the police also seized stake money of Rs 15,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. Moreover, the have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that the police had accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore and also initiated further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
