Jammu : Planning Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD) on Thursday placed 50 officers of Jammu and Kashmir Economics and Statistics (Gazetted) Service as joint directors and deputy directors in the department.
As per government order issued in this regard, 10 officers presently posted as Deputy Directors in the department have been placed as Joint Directors in their own pay and grade. Similarly, 40 officers presently posted as assistant directors in the department have been placed as deputy directors in their own pay and grade.
Giving his remarks on these placements, Dr. Piyush Singla, Secretary, PD&MD, emphasized the department’s crucial role in planning and development process in the J&K. He stressed the importance of having a sufficient pool of resources to fill vacant positions in the field.
Dr. Singla said that the placement of these 50 officers will help bridge the gap between the current deployment and the total sanctioned strength in the department.
It is worth mentioning that members of the Jammu and Kashmir Economics and Statistics (Gazetted) Service hold key positions such as Joint Director Planning in Administrative Departments, Chief Planning Officers in various Deputy Commissioner and field offices, and District Statistics and Evaluation Officers.
These positions are essential for effective planning and monitoring of development projects. Furthermore, these members are actively involved in implementation of flagship programs, including various CSS, as well as data collection, processing, and analysis.
