Jammu : Roshan Lal, a senior citizen from panchayat Chakroi block Suchetgarh, vividly recalls the dire times when the kaccha roof over his head offered little protection to his family from the relentless monsoon rains, forcing nightly bed shifts and makeshift rainwater collections in their humble abode.
Echoing a comparable story, Bholaram, another resident of the block also revealed his struggles due to lack of a decent home and life under leaky roofs.
Enter the silver lining — the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Both Roshan Lal and Bholaram, alongside countless other untold stories, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government for the shelter provided by this transformative government initiative.
These narratives unfolded during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Block Suchetgarh, at the Government Boys Primary School Bokari in panchayat Chak Baja. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various government departments, with on-the-spot services benefiting local residents.
The Sarpanch graced the occasion as the chief guest, joined by Block Development Officer, Akanksha Gupta.
Health, Social Welfare, NRHM, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Industrial & Commerce, ICDS, Revenue, RDD and various other departments showcased their contributions through stalls at the venue.
The students of the school captivated the audience with engaging cultural performances, earning medals and certificates from Block Development Officer Akanksha Gupta for their outstanding showcase.
