Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir High Court (HC) on Tuesday issued a notice to government to file status report on the investigation so far conducted on braid chopping incidents in the valley.
The HC issued notice to government on two Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the court, seeking intervention in the matter.
The court has directed to file status report about the investigation conducted so far in the braid chopping incidents in the valley by October 13.
More than 50 cases of braid chopping incidents were reported during the past one month in the Kashmir valley, where an elderly person was killed after hit by a brick after he was mistaken as braid chopper. A woman suffered heart attack in south Kashmir on Tuesday when she mistook three person as braid choppers. Over a dozen persons, including non locals , thrashed by people after they were labeled as braid choppers in the valley.
Police has already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and announced a cash reward of Rs 6 lakh for anyone who will provide any information about the braid choppers.
However, so far police has failed to make any breakthrough, evoking sharp reaction from the people who alleged that police was not doing investigation seriously.
Director General of Police(DGP) and other senior police officers sought the cooperation from the people to resolve the braid chopping mystry.
