Srinagar : Police on Monday arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Mattan received inputs about one Sadeeq Khan S/o Hussain Khan R/o Satri Maidan Gopalpora Mattan indulging in drug peddling besides hoarding large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
Stating that following inputs a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Mattan and subsequently investigation was also taken up, Police in its statement said that on receiving inputs a search team comprising of SHO Police Station Mattan and Executive Magistrate Mattan raided the said house and during search of the house recovered about 11.5Kgs of Charas Powder following which accused was arrested and further investigation in the instant case is going on.
Police in it’s statement further said said that in another action the police party from Police Station Bijbehara during naka checking at Hassanpora Bijbehara arrested one drug peddler identified as Javid Ahmed Dar S/o Ghulam Hassan Dar R/o Tulkhan Bijbehara along with 10 Codeine Phosphate bottles, adding therein that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been also taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
