Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has registed 260 cases under NDPS acts and arrested 452 drug peddle in it’s relentless drive against drug peddling this year, adding therein that the number of registered cases has significantly dropped in recent months.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that till November 2023, police have registered 260 cases under NDPS act, arrested 452 drug peddlers which include 70 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS PSA in Baramulla district, adding therein that moreover, property worth crores of drug peddlers have been attached during the current year besides which police teams have also made substantial seizures of contraband worth more than 14 crores.
Police in it’s further statement said that the concerted efforts of the Baramulla Police have yielded a notable reduction in drug peddling cases, adding therein that a visible decline in drug abuse cases is seen on the ground. Stating that people in the district have showed utmost faith and satisfaction in the actions of police against drugs and have also expressed their total support to the police, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that it remains steadfast in its commitment to confront drug smugglers and seize both movable and immovable property used for illicit trafficking within the district.
