Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three persons for their involvement in illicit trade of counterfeit gold biscuits in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on Police Station Khansahib on November 28 this year received inputs from reliable sources about the involvement of a group of individuals in illicit trade of counterfeit gold biscuits.
Stating that while acting swiftly, the suspected vehicle bearing registration number JK04F-5047 was intercepted near Gogjipathri Crossing in the Khansahib area with three persons identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar S/o Ab. Ahad Dar R/o Malwa Kunzar, Farooq Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohammad Dar R/o Arizal Khansahib and Shabir Ahmad Dar S/o Jalalu Din Dar R/o Arizal Khansahib on board, Police in it’s statement further said that during their search, 239 counterfeit gold biscuits were recovered from their possession but during questioning, they were unable to substantiate the authenticity of the items and were arrested subsequently, adding therein that a case vide FIR No.163/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahib besides which further investigation has been also initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people were allegedly selling these fake gold biscuits to buyers at exorbitant rates and deceiving them and they will be dealt with iron hands.
