Srinagar: A 70-year-old woman died, and three other family members were injured in a suspected heating gas cylinder blast in a house in Srinagar on Sunday.
Fire and Emergency Service officials said that the blast took place at around 2 pm in a house at Omar Colony Lal Bazar when all the four family members were in a room.
An elderly woman identified as 70-year-old Khadija died on the spot while Marim Yousuf, Mazia Yousuf and house owner Mohammad Yousuf suffered burn injuries. The injured were hospitalized, they said.
The house also caught fire and suffered extensive damage. The cause of the blast and subsequent fire is believed to be due to leakage in the gas cylinder, they said.
