Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has successfully arrested 2 persons involved in a marriage scam, following a complaint filed by Gh Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Dessa Doda in north Kashmir district Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Post Mirgund received a complaint from Ghulam Mohammad Bhat S/o Mohammad Shareef Bhat R/o Dessa Doda A/P Srinagar who alleged therein that he has been fraudulently cheated by one person namely Mohd Qasim Bhat S/o Gh Mohammad Bhat R/o Gund Ibrahim, Trikolbal Pattan, on the pretext of marriage and has paid an amount of about Rs 1,50,000/- to the said fraudster. Police in it’s statement further said “the victim alleged that when he sought the recovery of the amount, the accused person Mohd Qasim Bhat resorted to intimidation and threats of dire consequences”, adding that “ Police registered a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pattan and initiated further investigation”.
Police in its statement further said that during the course of investigation, a police party of the Police Post Mirgund, through rigorous efforts, successfully tracked down and arrested the primary accused Mohd Qasim Bhat, adding therein that his accomplice brother, namely Nisar Ahmad Bhat, was also apprehended in connection with the case. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the said accused persons have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police in the concluding para of it’s statement said that further investigation into the matter is going on and appealed to such people who may have fallen victim to similar scams to come forward and report such incidents to the nearest police station.
