Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has solved a blind murder case by arresting the brother of adeceased for his involvement in the commission of crime in Budgam district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 20th November this year Police Station Beerwah was intimated that a dead body of a labourer Sameer Ahmad Rather, (aged 18/19), of Sail Beerwah is lying behind his residence and after acting swiftly, a police party of Police Station Beerwah along with FSL teams reached the spot following which all legal formalities, investigation was initiated.
Police in it’s statement further said that during investigation, several suspects were called in for questioning including the family members of the deceased and during their questioning, Aqib Ahmad Rather, brother of deceased Sameer Ahmad Rather confessed his involvement in the commission of crime. Police in it’s statement said “Aqib the brother of the deceased revealed that a confrontation between the brothers took place during the intervening night of 19th and 20th November this year which resulted in Sameer’s death, adding that “father and sister of the deceased also admitted his involvement by providing details about Aqib Ahmad’s role”.
Stating accused who happens to be brother of the victim has been arrested and a thorough investigation has led to the recovery of essential evidences including the weapon of offence used by Aqib to assault his brother Sameer, Police in it’s statement said that a case vide FIR No. FIR No. 143/2023 has been registered under relevant sections of law besides which investigation into the case has been also initiated.
