Rajouri : A grand district-level function was on Monday organised by the Cooperative Department Rajouri to mark the culmination of the 70th All India Cooperative Week.
Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal presided over the event which witnessed an array of speakers expound upon the rich history of the cooperative movement and its integral role in the socio-economic development.
At the outset of the event, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies highlighted the achievements of cooperative department Rajouri like establishment of Jan Ashudi Kendra, Common Service Centers, PM Kisan Samridhi kendras through PACS etc.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal underscored the objective of the celebrations, which he said was to showcase cooperative sector achievements, raise awareness about its potential for emancipation of marginalized sections, share success stories and outline future strategies for strengthening the cooperative movement. He elaborated the district administration’s efforts to fortify cooperative societies, emphasizing their pivotal role in self-employment generation and regional economic bolstering.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri outlined the roadmap to achieve the vision of the PM initiative, “Shahkar se Samridhi” (Prosperity through Cooperatives). He emphasized the importance of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) as institutions that provide a platform for the convergence of all agricultural and allied department schemes. To facilitate this, the Government of India has constituted a District Development Cooperative Committee (DCDC), comprising officers from agriculture and allied departments, to ensure effective coordination and implementation of these schemes. The Deputy Commissioner also encouraged cooperative members to explore new avenues and venture into unexplored areas to further enhance the impact of their cooperative initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal particularly emphasized the commitment of the district towards doubling farmers’ income through cooperatives, with a keen focus on marketing local produce through these societies. He urged members to work diligently towards making the cooperative movement a resounding success, directing Cooperative Department officers and members to collaborate closely to achieve shared goals.
Adding a vibrant cultural touch to the festivities, students from the cooperative school Badhoon captivated the audience with a mesmerizing performance. They not only showcased their artistic talent but also celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the region. The rhythmic melodies and heartfelt lyrics resonated through the gathering, adding a harmonious note to the event and fostering a sense of unity among the participants. This cultural presentation by the students added an extra layer of joy and community spirit to the celebration of the cooperative movement.
Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Rajinder Sharma; Dy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Adnan Rather and Assistant Registrars attended the event.
