KU holds 14th Youth Parl competition in Srinagar

Srinagar: The 14th National Youth Parliament competition was held here on Thursday. The day-long competition was organised by Kashmir University’s Division of Youth Affairs, Department of Students Welfare in association with the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

Congratulating young participants who performed the role of parliamentarians, Coordinator, Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti said: “For a moment, I felt I am sitting in the Parliament. The performance of these young students shows the immense talent we have in Kashmir.”

Former MP Dr Mehboob Beg said: “The performance by these students shows that our future is in safe hands. The only thing they need is a platform where they could show their talent.”

Dean College Development Council Prof Neelofar Khan and Registrar Prof Khurshid A Butt expressed hope that students of the university and its affiliated colleges would continue bring laurels to the institution as well as the state.

Secretary, J&K Sports Council Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra also interacted with the students. Dean Students Welfare Prof GN Khaki welcomed the dignitaries while coordinator 14th National Youth Parliament Shahid Ali Khan said that a month-long training workshop was conducted by the DSW to train the students for the competition.

The first prize was won by Adnan Naqash, second by Mudawar and the third prize by Zainab Nissar. Safiya won the fourth prize while Nisheet Zaibi and Marina Nasreen won the fifth and sixth prizes respectively. Saifullah, Waseem and Musaib won the consolation prizes.
