Police on track to see the zero militancy in J&K: DGP Dilbag

Says “Under Militancy free plan 43 Police Stations strengthened to fight militant crimes”

Police Chief Flaggs off ceremony under Operational Capabilities Augmentation of Police Stations (OCAPS) at CTC Lethpora

Srinagar : Director General J&K Police Dilbag Singh here on Saturday said that during the last five years, there have been zero collateral damage, zero law and order incidents and zero civilian casualty and graph of militancy is at record low.
After Flagging off a ceremony under Operational Capabilities Augmentation of Police Stations (OCAPS) and taking the salute at a colorful parade at CTC Lethpora the DGP complimented the Principal and his staff for imparting excellent training to the official and officers. He appreciated the participation of the officers from police and other security forces on the occasion. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is the people’s police, working for the safety of youth, people and the children who leave their homes for school for a better future. He urged people to continue their support to police for better tomorrow. Police chief in his address said that the word “Zero” has become a positive indicator shedding off the negativity in J&K during the last five years. There have been zero collateral damage, zero law and order incident and zero civilian casualty during the period, he added. He said that the graph of militancy is at record low and we are on track to see zero militancy in the region. Police Chief also said that this year, Operational Capacity Augmentation of Police Stations (OCAPS) was launched to strengthen the 43 police stations with the latest weaponry and gadgetry for our Peace and Stability Teams (PSTs). “In the first phase, we covered 21 police stations and today teams have been deputed for the remaining 22 police stations, ” he added. These police stations are being covered under zero militant plans, the DGP added. The DGP said that the command vehicles being deputed with the police stations are equipped with all modern gadgets which will be extremely useful during different anti insurgency operations. He said that safety of our Jawans is on our top priority and added that providing additional safety gears would surely increase the efficiency and capabilities of our dedicated force, working on the anti-militancy front.
Singh said that police stations covered under OCAPS will have the latest weaponry, drone availability besides 14 member squad each for tackling militancy related incidents. He said that with the deputation of these squads, the area domination would be further strengthened. Referring to the killing of 5 militants in Machil, Kupwara, the DGP said the incident shows that the enemy continues its attempts to disrupt the peace in J&K. “Our border grid is strong and we will ensure all bids are foiled on the LoC, he added. He said that Police and security forces are working in perfect synergy to wipe out militancy. The DGP also witnessed live demonstration of trained JK Police officers and officials who displayed their skills regarding anti-militancy operations.
Talking to reporters the DGP said that with the support of the Government of India and local administration, security arrangements have been strengthened and the security situation has improved. He said that it was decided early this year to work out a zero terror plan and under this, 43 police stations where militancy related crimes were reported high were identified and subsequently strengthened to fight militancy related crimes. Special training was given to the officials deputed in these police stations, around 300 policemen completed training in August this year and 307 completed today, he added. These peace and stability teams would be working round the clock for the security and safety of the people, the DGP said.
With regard to his tenure as DGP, Singh said that it is satisfying that peace is returning and is visible on ground and added that the Bandh call/ stone pelting culture and law and order challenges have vanished completely. Number of misguided youth joining militant ranks has also come down significantly. The DGP later flagged off the Command vehicles being deputed to police stations to fight militancy related crimes. In the afternoon, the DGP Dilbag Singh inaugurated the Computer lab cum Library building , Conference Hall and a large mess and dining hall building for the Training Centre.
Besides, the Spl DG CID J&K R.R Swain, Spl DG Crime J&K, A.K Choudhary, ADGP Hqrs/Coord PHQ M K Sinha, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, IG CRPF Ajay Yadav, IGP (CIV/Hqrs) B.S Tuti, DIG CRPF Alok Avesthy, DIGs of Police, Vivek Gupta, Sujit Kumar, Shahid Mehraj Rather, Shridhar Patil, Haseeb Ur Rehman and Abdul Qayoom, SSP Anantnag, SSP Shopian, Principal CTC Lethpora, AIGs of Police Headquarters and other jurisdictional officers were present on the occasion.
